Status: Rare species. According to the IUCN Red List Categories and criteria,
the evaluated as-Near Threatened.Distribution and Range: Southern parts of the Russian Federation, Barnual, Zaisan depression,
Central Asia, Western Europe, Northwestern Africa, Mediterranean sea, hot
regions of northeastern Africa. In Mongolia: The Great Lakes Valley, in swamps
with high reeds in the Khar Us Lake.
Habitat: inhabits swampy high reeds and vegetation along the lake shores
and riverbanks. Nests on ground.Insectivore.
Population and Threats: Population, threats not properly assessed. Range is limited.
Conservation Measures: Included as Rare animal in the Annex to the Mongolian Government
Resolution #7 (2012). Distribution area is included within the Khar Us Lake
National Park.
Further actions: Study on distribution, population abundance, reproductive
biology and ecology, include the issue of protection of this species within the
conservation management plan of the NSPAN, raise awareness.
